Mamma mia! Grandpa Says You Have Time to Launch Your Life Leap!

Inspiring quote series #3 from https://personalexcellence.co/blog/101-most-inspiring-quotes-of-all-time/.

When I was twelve years old, I was visiting my grandparents on my mother’s side in Italy.  As we always did at least once during our annual summer visits, we went to the cemeteries of the Moferrato wine region one Sunday where the roots of both sides of my family are firmly planted.

The cemetery experience in Italy is a real mixed bag.  On the one hand, you’re in a cemetery—you catch my drift.  On the other hand, you’re in the rolling hills of wine country and there is a certain beauty in how active Italians are in visiting their deceased loved ones.  There’s always traffic coming in and out.  It’s just plain special.

While we were at the cemetery, my grandfather “Nonno Berto” looked down at me and said in Italian, “You know, these people here all thought that the world would end without them, too.”

I was startled.  He was a tough guy who didn’t bother talking about life and emotions.

“What do you mean?” I asked.  He just turned and walked away.  He knew that if he just let me stew, that moment would be engrained in me forever.  It obviously was.

I don’t recall what I was going through at the time, but I was always a kid who was wound up pretty tight.  I had very high expectations from within and around me, but I was only motivated enough to fall a bit short of them.

I think that was what really got me to start down the path of living life outside the lines.  Even now, whenever I have a new adventure to take, it scares me.  It scares both Laura and me, and like so many of us, the first excuse that comes to mind is, “I don’t have time.”

Well, Nonno Berto would tell you you don’t have time not to have time.

Nonno Berto was checked into a hospital the next day with a disorder that was never diagnosed.  He died a month later.  He’s my favorite relative.

We have a short exercise this week that could mean all the difference for you.  Download the attachment in this blog and spend 5-10 minutes per day over the next week on a quick exercise.  That’s one hour of your time to find the time you need to take your Life Leap.

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” – Abraham Lincoln
